DIY-M-KIT 400W - for all those who like to put on some hands and want to put 800 PPFD on the surface. Equipped with the currently best COB of the Cree CXB series. This KIT offers 400 watts more power than most plants need! Good that, like all our KITS, it is dimmable, so that the best amount of light can be adjusted to the needs of your plants at any time.

The DIY-M-KIT 400W is designed in such a way that only an Allen key set and a screwdriver are required for installation. All required components are included!

This kit is designed for the assembly of the square version. A construction as single beams is possible, but you don't need the 640 mm connection angles. For single suspension, simply order 2x DIY-M-KIT 200w.

In the following you will find out what is possible with this ingenious technology and artificial plant lighting. We will explain to you what is (really) important and which components and settings are interesting for your needs and those of your plants. The plant lamp is the new sunlight

Our LED plant lamps are designed to stimulate photosynthesis and therefore the growth of plants. Sunlight is usually responsible for this. But now it is the case that sunlight does not prevail everywhere or is not available at all times. This is where artificial light comes into play. Plant cultivation in unusual seasons or at unusual places is no longer a problem with the right setup.

The LED plant light can even be used to control the growth habit and the development of different substances. If you find the exact combination of light impulses, you can make plants develop a certain aroma or other ingredient, or have denser foliage. But first of all it needs a lot of practice, research and luck. Not every seed does exactly what you expect it to do.

On a wavelength? The right settings for plant growth

It can be quite simple: hang it up, plug it in, switch it on, done? But where is the fun, let alone the perfect result? That's why we'll explain in the following what to look for, which settings and components are needed and what's really all about such a plant lamp. Simply hanging a bulb was quickly no longer enough.

Plug and Play or DIY LED Kits

First you can think about how much time and know-how you want to invest in the setup. We offer models that you only have to hang up, plug in and switch on. No big dam, no back and forth and the plants grow and thrive. But if you have higher demands or if you have shoots that are more sensitive and grow better with exactly defined settings, you might want to be more flexible with the light.

Therefore we offer a choice between Plug and Play and DIY LED Kits to have the right product for every interest. Of course, there are different versions in both categories, you don't have to be satisfied with something less suitable. But what is important to know in order not to come across an unsuitable model?

PPFD value and the role of lumen and LUX

PPFD is the abbreviation for photosynthetic photon flux density and refers to the amount of photons (i.e. light particles) that are incident on a m2 surface in one second. In fact, we measure the photons that trigger photosynthesis, which is exactly what we need for plant growth. The unit for this is µmol/m2s (i.e. micromol per square metre and second) and is specified by us for many of our products. Apart from that, lumens also indicate a value that is not as accurate, but nevertheless useful. The fact that lumens are not the ideal measure is due to the fact that the brightness is measured in the way it affects us humans, which is quite different from what happens with plants.

COB LEDs from Cree and Chip-On-Board Technology

The current technology on which we also rely is COB LEDs, especially from Cree. COB stands for Chip-On-Board, which means that you can simply plug the thin LED panels onto a carrier unit. We've built the high performance illuminators into almost all of our products as standard and we're really happy with it so far.

The COB LEDs are available in different versions - single as well as in the kits and plug and play models. For example, you can choose the right colour spectrum depending on the growth cycle (more about this), or you can choose more or less light-intensive versions.

The wavelength and myth of the full spectrum plant lamp with LED

Wavelength is one of the most important parameters in plant lighting. The cells react differently depending on how short or long the radiation falling on leaves is. There is also a different "mixture" of wavelengths for each plant, which is ideal for its growth. Mostly the growth peaks are slightly above 450 nm and slightly below 700 nm. This corresponds to a light spectrum that appears blue or red to us.

Again and again one also reads something of a green gap. According to the theory, photosynthesis should become weaker at a wavelength that appears green to us. It does, but it does not come to a standstill for a long time. Fact is, the plant also needs ''green'' light waves to grow. That's why our plant lamps rely on more than just the blue and red wavelengths.

Kelvin settings for growth cycles

Not only the different plants, but also one and the same plant needs different wavelengths. While a cooler colour spectrum, i.e. shorter light waves, is needed in the tender growing age and during the growth and vegetation phase (with the 6500K), a plant that is already in full bloom or even already bearing fruit only needs 2700K-3000K. Of course our products are accordingly variable, since we use full spectrum LEDs, which can be selected with the appropriate colour temperature centre.

Time switch

As in nature, plants need dark regeneration phases, so to speak. Permanent irradiation does not occur during natural growth and does not produce much even with artificial light. Therefore you have to switch off the plant light at night. To do the whole thing manually, i.e. to switch the light off or on twice a day, can be tedious. That's why we offer the option to control our plant lamps with apps and timers for some models. You will also soon find a timer in our shop if you don't want to use an app.

Dimming via smartphone: App control for the plant light

Speaking of apps: we are currently developing an external Casambibox. This means that you have everything under control at the touch of a button via Bluetooth. Dimming in particular has never been so easy; not only from the living room, but as usual also infinitely variable.

Scattering angle

Do your plants grow in width or in height? How big is the flower box? These are questions that relate to the scattering angle of the plant light. Depending on the angle, it will irradiate a lot of surface, but not very deep, or it will take care of a small spot, but that one into the depth.

Such deep lighting is of course more suitable for tall plants, such as tomato vines, for example. If you have several of them, you should also buy several lamps, because they don't shine very broadly. If you have quite low plants, maybe strawberry sticks, you can also illuminate several of them with a wide scattering angle.

Of course we have both: wide and high beam angles. But if you need even more light in the width, because you want to illuminate several tall plants, you can combine all our products very easily, even without cable clutter.

Cooling: active or passive

Although the LEDs get much less hot than the NDLs they used to be, they still get a bit warm if they burn all the time, and that's what they have to do. Therefore there is a cooling system on all our LED plant lamps. There is a choice between active and passive cooling.

Active cooling takes place via a ventilation system, which is additionally operated and enables a permanent draught of air. However, this can sometimes be a little noisy and eats up additional electricity. Passive cooling, on the other hand, can be recognized by the fact that it offers a much larger heat sink surface, whereby the heat can be released into the air without additional fans.

This has the advantage that it is not as noisy as the active cooling and it also consumes less electricity. If these aluminium parts are also coated with anodised aluminium, they will not heat up as quickly. In addition, the passive cooling cannot fail and does not need any additional electricity in contrast to the ventilation system of the active cooling. If a fan fails during active cooling, the LEDs die heat death. That's why we design our systems completely passively.

LED plant lights: better than any other light source

It is not necessarily a matter of course that we can work with LEDs today. The invention of light emitting diodes is not that old. But we have not yet seen a more efficient solution in this area. We look at their ancestors and what we have gained from the new technology.

What made plants grow before LEDs:

In the case of plant lighting, it was mostly sodium vapour lamps that made darkness a thing of the past. They have served well for a long time, but are now out of fashion and better technology is on the market. The comparatively power-guzzling heating elements, one must almost say, are now being converted by most to LEDs, which are also more variable in the wave spectrum than the NDL, which always have the same light.

The advantages of LED plant light

The advantages have actually already been touched on very briefly. The main thing we like about LEDs is that they allow us to better control the wavelengths of the radiation. This was not possible before. Also, they don't get as hot as NDL, which also means that the power supplied is better used for what we need, which is light.

Previously, too much of the electricity was also converted into heat, which left little energy for light production. Today we have a more energy-efficient solution because more light is produced with the same amount of energy. In addition, the 115° beam angle transports the light to the plants in a targeted manner - a reflection of the light by means of a reflector, as is usual with a sodium vapour lamp, is a thing of the past.

Areas of application for plant lamps

The illumination of plants does not only concern a small niche. Many areas can benefit from this, as long as they are used to growing plants. What these are and to what extent they can benefit from our products can be summarised as follows.

Concepts for greenhouses

Intelligent systems connected in series can work wonders. Entire greenhouses, e.g. for the economic breeding of seedlings, can be equipped with our products and made to run. As soon as the right conditions prevail outside, you have the plants ready to continue growing outside.

Or you can grow plants at all when nature has just put on its most anti-growth dress. In the heated room with intelligent lighting control, there are summer vegetables even in winter, if you wish.

LED plant lamps for private use

If you don't want to think in such big dimensions, you are well served with us. Plant lamps for private use in the living area manage your own herb cultivation even without a balcony or garden. Many a kitchen will be happy to see no more dried herbs, even in winter.
LED kits: DIY kits

Whoever tinkers wins, and not too narrowly, because every structure of every greenhouse looks different and therefore needs different lighting. With an individual DIY set, you can optimally adapt the light to the arrangement of the plants, so that each light beam falls exactly where it is needed. Every photon that does not hit a plant cell is a lost photon.

DIY-M-KIT-Series and Black Edition

Our DIY-Kits are available in different versions, among others as DIY-M-Kits. There you have the choice between different formats. So you don't have to do without the advantages of the product, no matter what shape your plant structure has. From small models for beginners or just small or few plants, the 60W Kit is ideal. The series reaches up to 400W, where 8 LED arrays are installed.

Whether you use the kits lengthwise or as a more compact, rectangular to square structure is up to you. This is the advantage of the LED kit, namely that you can adapt it to your needs at any time. If your next breeding is built up in a row, you just unscrew the kit and screw it together again in an elongated way.

A special highlight - in the truest sense of the word - is our Black Edition. It is characterised by the fact that the passive cooling, i.e. the aluminium fins, are coated with black anodised aluminium (the result of electrolytic oxidation of aluminium). The black anodised cooling fins ensure that the heat is better transferred to the environment and thus support the cooling process of the LEDs.

Model B 150W

In addition to the DIY-M-Kit-Series, the model B 150W is also available. It is our price-performance champion among the LED kits and with the familiar Cree LED technology and 150 watts almost unbeatable. The stepless dimmer will also be controllable via app in the future, which promises even more individuality and fine tuning. Thanks to the high-quality Meanwell ELG 150 driver, you can rely on its silent operation for a full 5 years with warranty.

Far Red Kits

At first they thought they only had to irradiate with blue and red wavelengths because they thought there was the so-called green gap. When it was disproved that no photosynthesis should take place with green light, more and more work was done with green light. The next step is wavelengths from 710 nm to 850 nm, which appear deep red to the human eye.

According to initial research results, the so-called Far Red spectrum (not to be confused with infrared radiation) is supposed to ensure earlier flowering and shorter cultivation times. We have decided to try the whole thing out and therefore offer our high-quality Far Red Kits. They are mainly used to create a transition between the light conditions at day and the light setting at night. This simulates twilight, so to speak. However, the Far Red modules can also be used in combination with other plant lights. Our customers are so far very enthusiastic.

UV Kits

If the full spectrum of the LED plant lamp is extended to include the UV-A range, the plant is given a stronger signal that it is intensively exposed to too much electromagnetic radiation. It begins to arm itself by forming proteins, amino acids and enzymes to protect it from sunburn. The UV LEDs have wavelengths of 410-420 nm.
