UV Technology - areas of application
UV technology is used in a large number of fields and laboratory applications. In addition to the use of UV technology in solaria, in cosmetics and medicine, for example in the treatment of certain skin diseases, hygiene and the health service, artificial UV radiation is also employed in the manufacturing industry, research, laboratories in the domain of biology, chemistry and pharmaceuticals as well as in the food industry. Our UV technology from the manufacturers BioTec Fischer, BioSan, Dinies, Evoqua or Telstar is in widespread use in biological and medical research laboratories, for example for biological analyses as well as for the cleaning and disinfection of laboratories, hospitals and waiting rooms as well as laboratory equipment. UV boxes/PCR boxes are used for clean work with DNA samples and for PCT experiments. In biological sciences UV technology is used for (fluorescence) dyes in order observe metabolic processes on living cells or to visualise components of cells during biological processing stages. In minerology UV technology analyses mineral components of samples, in forensics it detects biological traces such as blood, saliva or sperm, and in industrial manufacturing, gastronomy, the food and meat industry or wastewater management UV technology is used to decontaminate air, liquids, water, surfaces, containers, packaging, baked goods, fruit or vegetables and to eliminate microorganisms such as viruses and bacteria as well as tiny forms of life. UV technology is also to be found in materials testing, e.g. for drying adhesives, paints and varnishes as well as for the hardening of polymers and resins such as in dentistry, electronics production, photolithography, varnish, paint and printing industry or for the visualisation of residues, e.g. in the cleaning, detergent and textile industry.
UV Technology - functions
In laboratories, research and industry UV technologies assume many different functions and tasks. UV technology is based on artificial UV radiation which in its natural form occurs in sunlight. For humans ultraviolet radiation is invisible electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength that is shorter than that of visible light, but longer than X-ray radiation. UV light can be divided into three ranges: long-wave UV-A, shortwave UV-B and ultra-shortwave UV-C radiation. UV technology with UV-A or UV-B is often used for the drying of varnishes, paints and poured masses. For laboratory applications and research laboratories we supply smaller UV chambers. UV technology with UV-C of different wavelengths has many areas of application in UV disinfection and cleaning. Due to its germicidal effect, UV-C radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nm is suitable for the UV sterilisation of air, water, surfaces and other applications. UV technology with UV-C radiation in the wavelength range of around 185 nm has a special effect in that this radiation converts oxygen molecules in the air into ozone and so is excellently suited for air purification, odour neutralisation etc. For this we offer various UV lamps, UV air de-germinators and portable UV devices.
UV Technology - types
We can supply you with various UV device types for different applications. The offered UV technology spectrum ranges from mobile UV devices equipped with UV lamps or ozone lamps via various stationary UV lamps and UV air purifiers, air and surface disinfection, UV chambers for the polymerisation of plastics, quenching of EPROM, hardening of adhesives, sterilisation and drying of surfaces up to larger UV boxes developed for clean working in the laboratory with DNA samples, e.g. for PCR experiments. Accordingly we currently sub-divide our UV devices into various types: UV lamps, UV air purifiers, PCR boxes, UV chambers, cabinets, UV crosslinker, UV sanitizer and UV mobile.
