Stills - areas of application
Stills are important components of laboratory equipment for flexible use in labs, science and industry. The most common uses are perhaps the distillation of alcohol or the distillation of petroleum in refineries, as well as the manufacture of distilled water. ProfiLab24 sells energy-saving water stills by several producers for specialized use in research, regular and specialized laboratories in the fields of medicine, science and business. Our maintenance-free water stills are used for distillation in hospitals, advanced colleges and production plants, biotechnology, dairy, pharmaceutical and wastewater industries. Water is also needed, for example, for the preparation of bacteriological and medical samples and for the processing of tissue and cell cultures, as well as for the development of reagents and ointments. Water distillate is also used for sanitation and sterilization procedures, for buffer solutions as well as for microbiological and analytical applications.
Water Stills - function
There are several various purposes and roles in the laboratory of water stills. Different devices are used, depending on the field of application, laboratory facilities or quantity of use. Stills generate extremely pure, low-gas, germ and pyrogen-free distillates with very low conductivity. The primary purpose of water is always the processing of really clean water. Unlike other separation processes, distillation has the benefit that no additional substances, such as adsorbents or solvents, are applied. The method of distillation of water also requires the transformation of a substance, such as water (spring water, mains water or pre-purified water) into a vapor and then into a liquid form. For both instances of distillation, the original solvent is heated and the resultant vapor liquefied by cooling for the condenser-and the liquid condensate is collected.
During the transformation from liquid to vapor, the water becomes incredibly efficiently isolated from pollutants with a higher boiling point. They stay in the evaporator as deposits. The water vapor, as well as a few compounds which have a boiling point similar to or greater than the water, is diluted, which eventually results in distilled water. This almost pure water created by water is still roughly 99.5 per cent free of salts, organic compounds, microorganisms, pyrogens and bacteria. The pH value of the distillate formed is slightly reduced if carbon dioxide from the ambient air dissolves in the distillate. CO2 is absorbed until the complex equilibrium between water and air is formed. Clear water should therefore be used rapidly and processed in an airtight fashion, if appropriate.
Water Still - models
Water stills come in a wide variety of styles, sizes and models. All our models can be placed on a laboratory bench or mounted on a wall. We sell water still models with a range of performance features.
Still types: Outwater stills are categorized as single water stills and water stills for double distillation. The conductivity of the distillate depends largely on the consistency of the raw water and the nature of the distillation apparatus. The purity of the distillate can be further improved by the combination with the second stage of distillation (double distillation) or by special materials such as still glass.
Storage tanks: The water stills come either with a storage tank or without a storage tank.
Water Stills - accessories
Our energy-saving laboratory water stills are distinguished by their maintenance-free and user-friendly nature as well as the prospect of interchangeable or inclusion of individual components. Depending on the model of the still, you may order different components and still water components such as tube packs, preliminary filters, de-chlorination filters, phosphate cartridges, level switches, external storage reservoirs, separate water supplies with magnetic lock, wall holders and many other additional components for the stills that we sell.
